Kendall Kingscott provided Building Surveying, Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Principal Designer services successfully delivering a £5.6m, 18-bed inpatient ward remodel and refurbishment project. The improvements to clinical areas were undertaken at the Lamorna Ward and MIU within Camborne and Redruth Community Hospital.
The original 1960’s wiring and pipework had become outdated and the healthcare tenant, Cornwall foundation Trust, requested that our client, NHS Property services, assess the condition of the ward. To avoid any potential health and safety risks in the future, the Trust’s Estates Department agreed to replace the electrics and pipework which provided an opportunity to review and modernise the overall ward layout.
This significant investment includes extensive replacement of mechanical and electrical services, bed head services, bariatric toilets, a modern nurse call system, a new medical vacuum system and full fabric renewal. The works have transformed the hospital to provide modernised facilities and interiors. The hospital remained operational throughout the works and despite the challenges of C-19 and serious structural defects, the project was delivered on time and within budget.
