RIBA Mentoring Initiative 2021/22
It’s been a busy year so far for us in planning and delivering RIBA mentoring to students. This is an important initiative for Kendall Kingscott, working closely with local universities to help students achieve their grades and offer students and graduates the opportunity to work for a local architectural practice.
Geraint James, Associate Chartered Architect at KK together with colleagues, Harry Avis Chartered Architect and Chris Jones Senior Chartered Architectural Technologist have helped design mentoring tutorials drawing on the knowledge and experience of senior architects. These have been used to mentor 3 students from the University of the West of England for the last 4 years and similarly 3 students from the University of Bath for the past 2 years.
As an RIBA initiative, it's proven both challenging and rewarding for all involved, however sessions have been successfully delivered despite being restricted to 'online only' at the height of the pandemic.
As a result of this mentoring scheme, we employed Joshua Compton in 2018 as an Apprentice and he is continuing his studies at UWE in pursuit of his RIBA Part 2+3.
