The development of this brown eld site which stands on the greenbelt within a Site of Nature Conservation Interest to the west of the New Forest National Park will provide 210 residential units of which 40% will be affordable and the remainder open market mixed tenure as a mix of terraced, semi detached and detached homes. The scheme also includes an 80 bed care home providing between 60 and 80 beds and a community building/ cricket pavilion.
Amongst the many challenges involved in developing the site are considerable ecological issues including the presence of badgers, bats, nightjars and invertebrates and the proposals will include habitat translocation and mitigation measures to protect this valued ecosystem. Kendall Kingscott worked closely with masterplanning and sustainability subconsultants White Design to develop appropriate proposals.
Kendall Kingscott obtained planning permission for the project of behalf of Sovereign Housing and have continued our involvement with the project providing detailed designs for the scheme for contractor Drew Smith. The scheme is currently on site and will be delivered over a number of phases.
This quality of this scheme has already been recognised with a number of award nominations. These include as a Finalist in the 2017 RTPI National awards in the category of Excellence in Planning for the Natural Environment, Finalist and Highly Commended in the RTPI SW awards for Excellence in Spatial Planning.
