Kendall Kingscott were appointed as Lead Consultant for the construction of a new performance stage within the Students’ Union. The space was designed to provide a multi-functional & common learning space suitable for a range of uses from live music events, union films, clubs and societies to timetabled academic lectures and seminars. The project included the installation of new retractable seating for 256 students; provision of new general and emergency lighting installations along with AV and induction loop systems; provision of new floor finishes and redecoration and a new large format cinema screen.
Due to the high profile placement of this refurbishment, in the heart of the busy Students’ Union, and it’s need to be multi-purpose, significant stakeholder engagement was essential throughout the project. Kendall Kingscott managed multiple stakeholders within the University including the SUSU President, iSolutions, Estates & Facilities and the Director of Union Services and co-ordinated numerous external consultants including M&E engineers, audio specialists and retractable seating specialists.
The construction works were completed over the Easter break to minimise disruption to the Students’ Union and the project was completed on time and to budget.
