The Directorate of External Relations and Development brings together Marketing and Student Recruitment, Communications, Development and Alumni Relations to create a dynamic directorate that works to increase the impact and influence of SOAS, University of London in the UK and around the world.
Kendall Kingscott were appointed as Designers, Lead Consultants and Contract Administrators for this project to refurbish spaces within the main campus building to provide offices, meeting rooms, reception and hospitality accommodation, with a design that reflects the rich diversity of SOAS and provide an environment that will assist in strengthening the School’s relationships with past, current and potential students, staff, external partners the media and the wider community.
The work was carried out in Grade II and II* buildings, and required negotiation with Conservation and Heritage authorities in order to preserve and enhance building features of historic interest whilst incorporating these into a contemporary work space environment. Like many educational institutions, SOAS remains in use throughout the year with no time where buildings are vacant. The construction works for the project were undertaken in five phases throughout the Summer with the buildings in full occupation by staff, students and visitors.
