Currently looking at the Marlborough College - Turner House project

A former sanitorium, Turner House has been extended over a number of years and the resulting accommodation was provided over a number stories and split levels. Circulation was confusing, with many changes in levels and there was also no entrance lobby.

The refurbishment works included the insertion of a three storey contemporary extension that provides a significant central staircase, along with a breakfast room, kitchen, bedsits and common room. The new extension meshes together the previous extensions and eliminates the various changes in levels.

Works involved the remodelling and refurbishing the ground and first floor areas including the provision of new WC’s, washrooms, kitchen and new bedsits. The refurbishment involved damproofing, sash window repairs and roofing replacement. New mechanical and electrical installations were provided, including new pipework and radiators.

The extension was constructed during term time and careful phasing operations were established to allow full operation of the house with minimal impact upon the building occupiers. Our interiors team worked with the building users to establish a contemporary but classic interior feel that has completely transformed the house.
