Currently looking at the Arts and Social Science Library, University of Bristol project

Refurbishment of the University of Bristol Arts and Social Sciences Library ground floor reception area was required in order to incorporate a new mechanical book sorter which would have a significant effect on the Library’s operation, reducing the need for a returns desk and incorporating new IT.

Our Interior Design team were appointed to reconfigure the existing space to accommodate and display a 7 bin book sorter, two desks and additional student study space seating.  The space to be refitted was a small area of 240m2 within the much larger environment of the University of Bristol Arts and Social Sciences Library.  However the incorporation of the entrance, reception area, book returns wall, book sorter room, information desk and student study space means that it is of comparatively high value.

The Library is fully operational 24/7 all year round and whilst work was to be carried out outside of term times, it was still important to minimise the fit out time in order to cause as little disruption as possible to students and staff.

The final design provides a space that works with existing finishes, colour pallet and design but also takes into consideration that the rest of the Library is due for upgrade and allows for this potential future change.
